Sasha McKenzie is a director, writer and filmmaker trained at Swinburne's ARRI-accredited film school in Melbourne. She grew up on commercial sets in front of the camera, and now works behind it as a director and on crew in production and camera.
Sasha studied film and television at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, learning the full chain of production: development and writing, directing, camera and the edit.
She came to it with years of set experience. From 2014 she worked on commercial campaigns in New Zealand and for the USA, Japan and China, so she knows how a shoot runs from the call sheet to the final setup.
Her directing began on stage. With Charlotte Beech she co-directed and performed Shakespeare productions that won awards three years running. Today she writes and directs her own films and works on crew in production and as a camera assistant.
Shapes performance, shot and story, drawing on years of experience as a performer herself.
Writes and develops original short-form scripts for her own productions.
Scheduling, call sheets, locations and keeping a shoot on track.
Camera prep, slating, data and keeping the camera department running on set.
Before moving behind the camera, Sasha led commercial campaigns in New Zealand and overseas, including the lead in Toyota's "Guardians" and the Hero Girl in Pfizer's "Dreams" for the USA.
